Preferred: Beulah. Difficult to spell, and not fair to your kid, but very pretty. Bertha seems very wide.

Are you really considering those names? Do you unborn child a huge favor and forget about Bertha or Beulah! I agree there are to many Sarahs and Amandas, but don't set her up for a childhood of name calling. Are you set on the letter "B"? How about Bromlyn? Lovely unusual name. I would have named my daughter Bromlyn, but my husband would not let me :(

Being original is one thing being odd is a different thing. Bertha is a very old name so is Beulah..... Bertha reminds me of Bir Bertha the Cow, and I went Beulah Elementary School in Va.

Why not kind of pick a meaning that you like, ex.. engel, or fire or Gods gift, something like that.. and put that info into a search engine on a baby name website and see what it pulls up.. guarantee something originall.
Best of luck and Congratulation hope mom and baby are great.

I am sorry but those are the worst names I have every heard. Bertha is terrible, that poor child. Beulah, is better but sounds like a whale or something. You can come up with something unique without ruining your child's life...

Bertha makes me think of big fat hairy German girls (sorry, do not mean to be offencive, it just brings that image to mind)

Beulah reminds me of Ferris Beulah's Day off.....not so keen.

There are so many pretty and feminine and cute names out there, why go for something frumpy and ugly for such a cute little bundle of joy.

If you're choosing between those two I'd go with Bertha. Be mercyful to the child who will have to go through life with the name you give her. (Bertha can be Betty, any ideas for Beulah?)
If those were just examples type in "baby names" or "baby girl names" into your browser's search window and there will be plenty of sites to help you with your search.

Bertha really has that stereotype of "Big Bertha," unfortunately... but Beulah would be refreshing to see. My only concern would be that people might not know how to pronounce it.

I'm all for the different name, but "bertha" in particular is a kind of stereotyped name (bringing up imagery of big, fat, and slovenly). It's what I named my first car at 15 - a big, green, run-down volvo wagon!
Either go with Beulah, or something that doesn't have negative imagry attatched to it. Generally speaking, avoid naming your kids after Greatful dead song names.
