The thing is that most of these Black colleges are from a long time ago when black people weren't allowed into other colleges. These schools are called historical black colleges, they where erected when you had separated but equal laws! They're only black colleges by historical standards. In reality nowadays any person from any background can apply and be accepted into these schools. Affirmative Actions laws apply to Historical Black colleges also. Their opened to anyone and also they have students that are white, Asian, Hispanic, and etc.

This country (I'm presuming you're an American because others from other countries are not usually half as hung up on this "black/white" issue) , is approx.77% white / Caucasian / non-Hispanic. At the same time it's about 12% black. Everything is predominantly, therefore, just naturally "geared toward" the dominant majority population of the country. When certain things are put into place, for example, a black history month, or black colleges, or huge inconveniences for you such as having to press English as opposed to Spanish (or oftentimes Polish -- as it is here in Chicago now at least) on your ATM machines, before preceding with your transaction, it is merely a way that the dominant majority tries to help the minority, and /or people who are not yet fluent in the dominant language. It is not a racial statement of some sort which somehow "threatens" your "white culture" or your beloved American-English language, or anything of the sort. It's merely a bone being thrown, if you will, by the dominant majority population , to the minority population, to attempt to help the latter do better in life, and achieve something more nearly resembling an equal footing in life.

If blacks don't go to college, then they're "ghetto" and lazy and up to no good........ if they do, and they get a scholarship to, or choose to go to a black college, then they're racists. CAN these people win with people like you?? The first responder here was very correct; this question is tired. It is beyond tired, it's exhausted. Fear not, your "white culture, white society, white heritage" and English language are in no way shape or form in danger of imminent extinction, like the yahoos on places like Stormfront would have you believe. Neither is your white privilege; you enjoy it every single day, you just don't even realize it.

This is going to be like my third time answering this question today but, let me answer you, dear. My college, Southern University, a Historically Black College/University, was established in the 1880s when the other school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana State University would not allow blacks in. So basically white people are enjoying their white colleges and have been doing so for years. That's why BLACK people get to have a BLACK college. The same goes for tv stations, awards shows, ect.

This question soooooo old.

Historically Black colleges were established in response to the refusal to admit black students into Universities some time ago.You have racist ideology and you 'll have to deal with that.Who told called you a racist for calling for a white college?Go back and ask your grandparents or even your parents to tell you how this came about.over 20yrs ago, white parents opposed to having black kids attending school with their kids and so black schools were established. Now most universities "claim" they don't accept students based on race but they do so by twisting it to grant admission to students who have had their parents as alumni of universities.Do you know why,it's because only few blacks had the opportunity to attend school with whites so this system of admission favors whites. You can choose to attend a black college and no one will prevent you.

even though i am black, i kinda see what ur talking bout and agree, coz black ppl do get away with having an all black school and the whites just get called rascit. however i do think that giving blacks this chance it helps them to get into good schools which will give them a hope to successed in life.

i hope i make sense.lol
