Does anyone know why my doctor would rather I use Prescription Diflucan instead of an over-the-counter cream to treat a yeast infection? Are the 3 to 7 day creams not safe while pregnant?

Also...has anyone else ever used Diflucan? Any bad reactions?

When I was pregnant with my 1st I got yeast infections quite often and my OB told me to sue Monistat 7 day-not the 1 or 3 day.He said the 1 and 3 day was too strong and not safe for the baby but that 7 day was safe.Every doc is different though so yours may not like to use Monistat-just go with whatever he says.

DO NOT USE OVER THE COUNTER VAGINAL CREAMS! omg... anything you put up there is going to get to your baby. i dont kno what happens but diflucan doesnt do it. its somehow safer when pregnant. my doctor gives me difulac about everytime i get a yeast infection. within in a couple hours the itching stops and i forget i even have a infecion. usually in 3 days its gone. you can use a anti igtch skin cream for the outsidfe..ask the doctor for soemthing for the itching while the medicine works. clitromizol is good

I have used diflucan and I believe that diflucan is meant to treat a bacteria Candida Albicans. Monsistat is meant for use on yeast infections caused by a fungus. If it a Candidal infection Monistat won't touch it.

The over the counter medications are safe to use during pregnancy. Doctors get incentives from pharmacuetical companies to push their products, that is why they push prescriptions all the time.

The doctor gets money everytime he prescribes something to someone from the drug companies.
