Doctor Who first broadcast 23rd November 1963 at 17.15 with William Hartwell as the Doctor,in the story An Unearthly Child, which introduced his granddaughter Susan (Carole Ann ford) and her two teachers from the Coal Hill School Ian Chesterton (William Russell) and Barbara Wright (Jacqueline Hill).and has subsequently run for 43 years with the doctor regenerating 9 times

the show was cancelled in 86 briefly then brought back in 87, then it was cancelled in 89 and was off air until 96 then off again until Russell T Davies brought it back in 2005
