For an understading of the these phenomena, I suggest reading the great book "QED; The strange theory of light and matter" By R.P. Feynman. (It has no formula). To get a precise answer, you should master quantom electrodynamics (QED) and particle physics. BUT before that, remeber that these are some theories that only explain the phenomenon and predict it to happen. (Even the simple Newton rules are the same). They never speack about "why" things happen in nature, they just "describe" (or "explain", if feels better) "how" they happen. This is what physics entirely is. The most precise answer to your question is "We don't know!".
