Can I walk on the floor without falling through/disturbing the insulations? Also, I need to look for something that may be right on the wood and under the fiberglass. (or whatever that fluffy stuff is that looks like finely crumbled dryer lint). Is there any way that a live electric wire could be concealed by insulation? How do I dig around safely in all of that fluff without disturbing anything important?

Light up the attic. Feel for the rafters with your feet. Stay on them. If you step between them you will bust through the sheetrock. Take all the time you need to find your next stepping place. As far as the insulation goes, Wear a long-leeve shirt to keep from itching like crazy. You can feel around and brush back the insulation with your hands. There's not a big chance of coming in contact with live wires, but if you would like, you can wear leather work gloves while groping around in the itchy stuff. Leather is a good insulator as long as it's not wet.
Remember, take your time to find your next safe stepping place.
