How many icons do you have on your desktop (computer screen)? If you have a LOT that can make it run slow, desktop has a very limited amount of memory. You can test this by creating a folder for your shortcuts on your c drive and put most of them there.

If that doesn't work, check your resources (in XP hit the CTRL ALT and DELETE button at the same time, then click on Performance). Then see how many programs are running in the background. That is usually the culprit of not enough memory too.

You can find out what kind of ram (memory) your computer needs at http://www.crucial.com and it will automatically test your system and tell you what you need and have in the computer (each slot).

You can get cheap memory at http://www.tigerdirect.com

To make your system run faster, stomp auto-starting programs. Click Start > Run and type "msconfig" at the prompt. Click the Startup tab and look at all that junk that loads when you launch your PC. Do you really need "Adobe Reader Speed Launch"? Probably not. Turn off anything else that looks useless, but be careful not to disable Windows system components.

Do you open alot of programs at the same time? If so try closing a few of them before opening new ones, that should help...deleting files won't help that problem it will only clear up space on your hard drive.

Deleting programs and files clears disk space, not memory.

First of all, check your startup folder. There are some probably some programs that can be removed from there... no it won't delete these programs if you remove them from startup folder.

hope this helps

get an external harddrive to store memory on, it gives you more space and frees up the speed on you comp. A lot of my friends had to do that. Good luck, try best buy, circuit city, office max, or any good/major comp. store
