I agree with the person who suggested learning study skills.
Also take into consideration that you may have a learning disability. If you try as hard as you say you do, I would advise you to talk to your school counselor and see what kind of testing can be done to test for such.
Good luck!

As long as you are trying your best that is all anybody can ever ask for and it is people like you who really make a difference in the world because you are so dedicated to your free education and most people these days abuse that power. I can offer you some advice though in order to get those D's back to more substantial grades like C's. It is really excellent that you start studying as soon as you get home but not so excellent that you are up until 11 or 12. In fact this is a very poor study skill and that is probably the main reason why your grades are getting so damaged. I am going to inform you of some study skills that I use and that work for me and you can decide whether or not you want to put those to use. First I always start doing all my homework and study on the bus. I know that it may be bumpy but this is truly an excellent management of time and shows that you are well disclpined. Once you get home have study times throughout the night that are thirty minutes each and take a ten minute break in between. Of couse you can stop to have dinner, take a shower or bath, and go to bed. If you have a big test or final exam coming up I would suggest making notecards and then having a family member or friwnd quiz you over the material. Finally you stated in your question that you are failing school. One of the biggest mistakes we as Americans make is not quite getting the picture of what failing actually is or looks like. Even though D's are very close to failing they are still passing and you can definetly still earn your high school diploma even with straight D's. Failing occurs when you have an F grade in a core class not elective like Math, English, History, or Science. I really hope that this information has helped you and you take time during your winter break in order to start filtering in all of the information I just told you because I have said quite a lot.

Im a junior in high school and I'm failing all my classes as well. We have the same problem, because I study all the time, too. There must be some reason that your getting D's. I know I've been getting them lately because I moved in with my grandparents and I go out all night, party, ditch class, or I'm at rehersal all night for my school drama dept. Things like all that are whats making me get D's and an F. =( I'm sure you have stuff like that too even though we still study. So just don't do all that as much as you really want- moderation is key. good luck next semester!

Well you have to make sure that you're getting good grades on that homework and eat something sweet before the test b/c the taste will help you remember things. Also, you have to make sure u r studying right and not just the really basic facts and stuff. You have to get A LOT of sleep and try doing some extra credit stuff.

Perhaps you're trying too hard? Maybe you get yourself too worked up about doing well in school and then you buckle under the pressure. Try a more casual approach, like taking a moment to relax after school before doing your homework/studying. And don't stay up too late to study (even though I still do this).

My daughter is just like you. She tries her best but sometimes she doesn't get the score she hoped for. If your teachers can, ask if you can get help from them and retake the test(s)/ quizzes/ etc. If you ever need help I suggest tutoring or maybe go to your school counselor for help. It's life, sometimes it isn't fair but you have to deal with it. I bet you are a very smart person but you just need to relax but don't forget, school is a very important thing in life and if you don't have that education that they're giving you now, you will end up on the streets.
Hope everything goes right in your academic future,

try different ways of studying ...try to change some things and see if it works and if does'nt work than take personal help from a teacher or your parents. And everyone is not born smart sometimes a person takes 1 hour to study for his test and on the other hand another person takes 20 mins to study teh same amount of stuff.........so try a little harder and i am sure you will do fine ......GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!

Are you getting enough sleep? I used to stay up studying ALL night just so I could do my very best on a test....just to fail the next day. You're body needs the sleep to process all the information you've absorbed. Have you talked to your profs about it? Maybe they can find ways to help if they know how much you care and are struggling.

something is distracting you from focusing.
first of all, the only person you should be working hard to improve is yourself. do not measure yourself against your friends or other people. you have to study to be the best person you can be.
You're not studying effectively. Don't try to absorb everything, absorb only the most important concepts and ideas. How are your notes arranged? Are they logical and well written?
There are study tools you can pick up from the web.

Maybe you need to develop some study skills. I left a link to a site that will give you some study skill advice.
If it makes you feel any better you spell and write better than half the people in here.
