Actually i walked out during lunch time of the busiest day of the week (Sunday, when the people just got out of church)
And i was the only person working so they had to wait for another person to come in :)

Who cares? If they don't pay you good, why do you have to care about them? !!!

I worked in the restaurant industry for 9 years and I can tell you from experience that, for the most part, the door for their help is always revolving---many people choose a job of that nature because they know that it's temporary. You probably had a good reason for quitting and they probably wouldn't think twice about firing you or laying you off--unless you work for a "mom and pop" business with just 1 or 2 employees I would say don't feel any guilt my friend. If it's a corporation-run business I would go further to say "Screw them" --they screw so many other people like the mom and pop run businesses who are trying to eke out a living. I've worked in both places and I didn't look back when I quit my corporation-owned restaurant jobs. What's done is done. Enjoy your holidays worry free. And take care of yourself--because ultimately you need to take care of you---no one else really will...

You don't say why or how you left...so i guess the answer is up to you...put yourself in your bosses place - would YOU want an employee who cares so little as to leave with no notice, regardless of whom the hardship falls on.
Or a co-worker, who is probably gonna be thrilled to pick up those extra shifts and those extra comps the boss will probably throw in for helping out, just in time for hols...
I wouldn't say mean necessarily...thoughtless or selfish, yeah.

Well it depends on why you quit. If it was for no good reason, that might be a little mean. Otherwise, they're employers, they should be used to people quitting. I love your avatar by the way!

If you are so concerned it seems to me you should have considered that before quitting. If you had to quit for personal reasons, then they should understand. Your employer really should be concerned about them being one hand short, not you.

Well, yes it was a mean thing to do. Not only did you do wrong, but now you won't have a good reference.

If you were not comfortable with that job is ok, but be confident to talk first with your parents.
