What makes you think they haven't already, many many times?
I think other worlds abound where other sentient life exists. And while our own limited ways of understanding creation make it seem dificult for aliens to reach our world other ways of thinking and perceiving the universe may provide solutions for contact between different worlds that we have not even considered.
We have so many myths about what is real or not. Remember when the world was flat as a pancake? But we changed that. Now we belive it is roughly spherical... But what if we are still wrong? What if there are other ways to view our world and interact with it that our limited perceptions fail to reveal to us so that our minds may comprehend reality on a deeper more functional level?
Other worlds are only a single step away. Less than that really. We may go to other worlds or be visited from other worlds at any time. I say the aliens are here among us now...
