The Byrds, Creedance Clearwater Revival, Crosby Stills and Nash are all as British as your first two, but well worth a listen and will hopefully cure you of your 'Eagles' problem.

I don't see how by any stretch that The Band, One of truly great bands, are similar to 'yes', one of the most embarrasing.

If you like free you may want to checkout some Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac.

You just need a look at my LP collection. Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Hawkwind, Caravan, Cream, Curved Air, Blodwyn Pig, Status Quo, Led Zeppelin,Rolling Stones,Blind Faith, Traffic, Pink Floyd, Who.ElO/Wizard. The list is endless.

I'll just name some European ones that I know. I'm not sure what era their from, all I know is that they're considered oldies. The Beegees, Ace of Base, ABBA, La Bouche.
