I hope when you talked about quantity you're referring to the 45 gallons of oil in a 64 gallons container. Basing my answer in this assumption, let us denote x = gallons removed =quantity sold, ignoring spillage and evaporations.

thus; x = total quantity of oil multiply by the fraction sold
or,
x = four-fifths of total quantity

soln.
x= 4/5(45gallons)

x= 36 gallons

conclusion:

Therefore it is safe to say, the quantity removed is equal to the quantity sold and equal to four-fifth which is 36 gallons.

Never mind the 64 gallon tank, that's irrelevant.

If four fifths of 45 gallons are removed, that's 4/5 x 45 = 4 x 9 = 36. 9 gallons remain.

64 has nothing to do with the question
4/5 of 45 is 36.
