It's ant. All the tv people and reporters are just trying to be pc. Look it up in the Webster dictionary.. It might show ahnt as an acceptable pronunciation. Don't believe it, if you want to speak proper English say ant.

i am from the south and i grew up with a very southern family so i say ant but most people say the way you are supposed to say it is ahnt

I say ahnt even though I'm from the south and we do talk country I still say ahnt.

ahnt. I guess that's the way I grew up - my mom says it "ant" and so does my dad, but the rest of my family says "ahnt"... I guess I just picked up on it. lol.

I say "ahnt". Really, most of the people around here stress the "au" sound even more, making it sound more like "awnt".

the proper way is 'ahnt' but americans have... americanized it in the way we do stuff like that, so both ways are acceptable.
But Aunt is just SO much more proper.

depends on where you are from and to whom you are speaking with really because my formality adn vocabulary changes as the environment does so ant like the insect would be my normal choice when i want a reaction i might say it the other way ah oont or whatever
