I'm getting ready to attend Indiana University. I'd like to be more out-spoken and less shy about things, but its very hard for me. I've allways tended to be the shy type because I'm too focused on dodging conflict. How do you recommend I broaden my social skills with people. I tend to be boring, and well unliked because of it. Any ideas to help get rid of this annoying mind-set?

Acting Classes! Not only do you learn to relax in a group setting, you learn to focus on feeling people and then reacting with feeling, I recommend it for everyone who intends to be a succes in life. Also it's a great way to meet new, interesting people.

Look to open your mind on different subjects. Be out where people are active. Find something you want to learn more about and do it. Or if there is something you already love, find others who like to do it as well. I have made friends because I love music (local artists concerts), break dancing (competitions) and politics (meetings) just to mentiona few thing.
Just find active things to do, be willing to help others, and be happy all the time. People want to surround themselves with positive people.

If your fat start working out that will increase your confidence a whole lot. Secondly the only people that matter are your family and friends the rest can go hell. All these girls telling you just be your self and listen they can go hell to be a asshole make the girls come to you. The last thing you need to do is just start going to the clubs.

Seriously, learn to listen. Not dominate the conversation, but listen and it will get you far ahead. Learn the game by getting involved and listen more than speak.
