Why don't people pull in to the intersections when they are waiting to turn left on a green light? Is it not legal to do that in St Louis?

Why the thumbs down? It's an honest question - I was just wondering. I've never driven anywhere where people don't pull out to turn left, that's all.

I have a better question. Why doesn't anyone use blinkers for anything anymore? Or why do I see someone run a redlight at least once a day? You know who you are.

For Courtesy sakes if you pull out when the left turn signal is green knowing you will not advance and be stuck in the middle of the intersection you are causing more tie ups in the long run. Further if there is emergency equipment that needs to get thru and the intersection is blocked think about it the next time you need a policeman, fireman or ambulance when its Your life hanging there possibly by a thread.... Just something to think about...

I grew up in St. Louis, and have lived in Mississippi, Ohio, and Illinois. I was shocked that people do that in Illinois, because I had never seen it done before that. I always thought that it was illegal or unsafe. Now I do it, too, because sometimes it's the only way to get through an intersection in a timely manner.

I do it. But look up first and make sure you are not in one of the red-light camera areas (about 3 ft long pole, with a camera mounted on top of the light). I don't know whether they will take your picture if you are already in the intersection but stopped when the light turns red.

Hey what about the fact that most people don't understand what a yield sign is?!? You should stop if there is on coming traffic, not expecting that traffic to let you in. I am thinking especially of 40 and Kingshighway - there are always accidents there because of this!
