its her dad..in the video shes portrayed as a circus actor and it looks as if shes so caught up in her job and her performance she doesnt have the time to really chit chat with him after a show and then she gets a telegram that he's passed and through out the video it shows her father and herself as a child watching a circus show. You can only assume the connections.

I thought was a reference to her dad that she hadn't seen in a long time but, he supposedly hurt her mom and her, yet she is apoligizing in the video, I have watched that video five times and still don't get it!!

She recently lost her dad in real life, but the song was written by another songwriter who like X-tina had also lost her dad.
