When I ask a sensible question on this forum I get few or even no answers, yet when I ask astupid one like the 'fight' one I asked yesterday I am innundated with responces, some inexplicably quite abusive.
What does this say about us a society?

Funny or superficial question prompt more responses because they are fast and easy to answer. I know I can say something funny or glib in far less than a minute, but if I find a question which iis intellectually fascinating to me, I may spend a half an hour thinking about it and answering it. I think that lots of us don't have great attention spans anymore. I don't just think it is "Dumb Britain." It may be a bigger problem than that. I'm an American living in the UK and I think it is just as bad there. (Unfortunately, it may be even worse.) Makes you stop and wonder what all this does to our ability to create a coherent and just society...I may be paranoid or over reading the situation. But it does seem very sad somehow.

I think it probably says more about the people on Yahoo Answers. I asked a similar question to this and hardly got any answers at all.

You cannot infer that just because deep questions are unanswered on Yahoo Questions, that Britain is dumb. It is to be expected that most people will concern themselves with the trivial and shallow, that is how things are, and always has been. If you want answers to intelligent questions then find intelligent people to answer them.

It is inaccurate to associate the word dumb with stupid. Dumb in the correct sense means not being able to speak it doesn't mean not being able to think. In fact it would seem that most stupid people speak too much.
