why do people think that they can come to our country and not learn our language? if i went to iraq you best believe i would have to learn to speak their language and now they want to come and take away our religions and our holidays.. i say f*ck that you want to celebrate your holiday then go home! I will look you in the face and proudly say MERRY CHRISTMAS! i dont want to go to an airport and see a big sign that says happy ramadan. what next are we going to be wearing smocks instead of hollister, robes instead of walmart... f**k that go home!

Wow, you are one intolerant b!itch. Do you think black people should go back to Africa too? Lets break this little rant of yours down shall we...
First of all, there is no established language in this country. English is the language predominantly spoken, but not everyone everywhere in this country speaks it.
Secondly, I'm pretty sure no one is taking away any holidays. I agree that there is some serious idiocy in the whole not saying Merry Christmas thing, however, there are other holidays celebrated here like Hanukkah and Ramadan that deserve to be recognized. There is no official religion and we live in what is a pluralistic society. You know what that means? If not look it up.
No one is telling you what kind of clothes you need to wear. Wear hollister and Wal-Mart if you choose, no one gives a goddamn.
I'm sick of this do it our way or go home sh!t. Its ridiculous and this country is as much theirs as it is ours. Many a culture have come to blend together and live happily in this country, and it seems to me that we can continue to do this without the help of ignorant-@$$ people such as yourself. So if you would, shut up, sit down, and let the grown-ups talk because your brain obviously has not developed to the point of understanding yet. Thanks and have a nice day.

When my husband and I were shopping at Sams Club last weekend, the cashier actually said, "Merry Christmas!" I was so stunned I just stood there a second, not quite believing my ears.
Isn't it sad that, in New York, the ACLU managed to get the Nativity scene banned from schools, but the Jewish Menorah and the Muslim Star and Crescent are permissible.....wtf is that!?!?
Merry Christmas to all! And if that offends you, too damned bad.
Hey - shouldn't *I* be offended because no one has ever told me Happy Hanukkah or Merry Kwanzaa? I'm not....

Hmmm. This isn't a question but an aimless rant which makes you sound like some homeless people I've passed on the street.
Some of what you say is fair, although your choice of words undercuts your argument and makes you sound nuts. Language? Yes. Imposing religious practices on others? I agree that others shouldn't be able to do it to you so I also agree that you shouldn't do it to others.

well, i think that multiculturalism is destroying out country. ok, we have a lot of different people here. thats fine, but the difference should end there. we should not have to honor their gods, foods, holidays, dress, language, history, religion, or anything else. we, they, are in america and choosing to live here. that means they want to come and be part of our great country and live the american dream. and in order to do that, they must become americans. we should not bend over backwards in fear of insulting them. if they dont like our american customs, go back to your homeland where its what youre used to. they should have to decide which culture they are going to be a part of. ours, or their country of origin. if they choose the latter, ship them home!

I don't see the problem with celebrating all holidays. Mauritius is one of the most successful examples of integrating religion into the school system. They celebrate: Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and Muslim in their schools.
The value of doing this, is to teach children that it is okay to be different. Some people are from the US, and are Muslims, Jews, Buddhists...
I don't see the problem with being different, but I do see the problem with not respecting other people.

Intollerance like you've just graced us with is why there is a problem in the first place. I agree that they should learn our language if they are going to live in the US, but they should still be able to have their culture in their own homes and communities.
