Wait a minute...you won't get birth control because you are afraid of gaining alot of weight? You MAY gain 5 lbs. How much do you think you will gain when you get pregnant?

Anyways...
Usually you ovulate 2 weeks after your period. (But that is based on a 28 day cycle), and yours may be shorter or longer than that which would effect your ovulation days.

Have you tried lambskin condoms? You could also use the rhythm method...which involves taking your body temperature. You can use spermicide and sponges too.

I need to point out that alot of these methods do not protect against STD's...you should really look in to alternative types of condoms.

Spermacides work fairly well. Talk to your doctor, there are MANY forms of birth control, there are several different pills, rings, shots, etc. The pull out method is okay, but it's not the greatest. You could also chart your periods and use the calendar method. Check Yahoo search for "Calendar birth control" and you should find something. No matter what you choose, consistancy is key. If you don't use it every time, it won't work. If you do take a pill, don't miss more than three in a month or you have to throw them out.

Don't have sex is the simplest solution here.
I take it that when you say you are allergic to condoms what you really meant is that you are allergic to latex. If that's the case, then you should use condoms that are not made from latex.
And just an fyi, getting on the pill doesn't mean that you are going to gain a lot of weight. Besides, you'd gain a lot more by being irresponsible and ending up pregnant than you would by getting on the pill.

My first advice is to see your gyneocologist and have an allergy test for the condom you can use.
My experience with the pill some years ago was unpleasant. I would have to go to the doctor to get a shot to bring it down. That was it for me. I decided to learn about my body, how it feels/functions. I used a calendar for as long as it took for me to recognize the symptoms prior to my period (where I'd get the first pain, was it on the left or right lower side, did it start at the beginning, middle, or end of the month, was it around the same time each month).Once I got it down to a science, I knew when my eggs were dropping. There are so many way our body talk's to us, but this was the best way for me. I forgot to mention I have three children14, 21, 33 years old. I still listen to my body in partnership with my doctor.
Important note: There is a new strain of Aids out there, you have to protect yourself better.

Most women don't gain a lot of weight on the pill. If you eat too much you gain weight. That's pretty much how that works.

I would definitely go on the pill to avoid pregnancy, or perhaps the NuvaRing or the Mirena IUD. If you don't use protection, you will end up pregnant, and the average woman gains 30 pounds or so during pregnancy, so think about that.

You can try the Fertility Awareness Method, which calls for abstaining from intercourse or using a barrier (condom or diaphragm) when you're fertile. Visit http://www.ovusoft.com/. Read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertilty" by Toni Weschler. You can also take a correspondence course through http://www.ccli.org to learn Natural Family Planning. I've been using FAM/NFP for over 8 years and have had three planned pregnancies and no unplanned pregnanies.

yes the Billings method works I have used it for 13 years. Of course you have to be a lot more diligent than you are with a pill.

You could try natural family planning, which if used correctly can be up to 99% effective. You will have to monitor your mucus and temperature, and avoid sex when you're ovulating. You didn't mention anything about using an IUD or diaphram, are these options you'd be willing to consider?

Abstinence is one foolproof birth control method. A tubal ligation is another foolproof method.
"Tubal ligation, often referred to as "having your tubes tied," is a surgical procedure in which a woman's fallopian tubes are blocked, tied, or cut. Tubal implants are small metal springs that are placed in each fallopian tube in a nonsurgical procedure (no cutting is involved). Over time, scar tissue grows around each implant and permanently blocks the tubes. Either procedure stops eggs from traveling from the ovaries into the fallopian tubes, where the egg is normally fertilized by a sperm.

Tubal ligation and tubal implants are considered to be permanent methods of birth control for women"
