can you call someone an asshole, a drunk, or is psycho?
what is allowed on blog sites? Can name calling get one sued if the other person not a public figure?

If you are using blogger or wordpad type service there may be terms of service you have to adhere to.
But if you have your own website with a blog such as wordpress or movable type you can say anything you want, isn't America Great.
Just be warned, potential employers, school teachers, and friends may stumble across what you type. If you decide to start calling other people names there is some legal action they can take against you, and really do you need to waste your time online doing that?

You can say anything on a blog site, provided the owner of the blog site (being Yahoo or Myspace, etc) doesn't object.
In many cases, the author of the blog site can also remove comments he does not desire to have.
Yes, we live in a world of free speech, but the US supreame court has found that saying some things is not a violation of that free speech.
If you put detail plans for a nuclear weapon on a blog, for example, rest assured, the FBI will get yahoo to remove it.
If you place the window source code on your blog, Microsoft will get it removed. It all boils down to how much of a fuss a person is willing to make over it's content.
In the end, your govenerned by the acceptable use policy of the web site in question.

You can say whatever you want on a blog site. It's a personal opinion site and a chance to voice your opinion. Don't claim that it's fact and you don't have to worry about it.
