I've heard of 1 and 2 Gigabytes of Ram as being the fastest, but then I just read "4 gigabytes memory"... what does this mean?.. What are the specifications for the fastest computer?? Thanks

Besides size (512 MB or 1 GB), memory also has SPEED. My computer came with 128MB at 133 bus speed. I upgraded it with 1GB at 333 bus speed. My computer can hold 2 GB of memory. I guess a really good computer would have several GB's of memory with a bus speed above 500.

If you want to find out what your computer has and what you can add to it, go to crucial.com. They will scan your computer, tell you what's in it, and tell you what you can buy. Crucial.com is owned by Micron. They sell memory factory direct at a large savings to consumers.

What you're mentioning is not speed, but capacity...how much the memory module can hold. Speed is measured in hertz's not bytes. The fastest system memory today runs in the neighborhood of 1150mhz (PC 9200) or so.

The amount of Gigabytes is not the speed of the RAM, that is the amount of RAM you have. RAM speed is measured in hertz (usually Megahertz: 400Mhz, 533Mhz, etc.). The fastest RAM available is DDR3-1333 RAM:
