Instead of calling them smoking breaks they should be called stress breaks. That way a person could do whatever it is to relieve themselves of stress (temporarily) and its fair to everyone. If I were you I'd go ahead and take breaks like everyone else does.

YES!!!! I used to get so irritated when I worked at a restaurant and the smokers would be like "im going out for a smoke break" and they would be gone for 10-15 minutes. I was the only non smoker and so when all of them would go out at the same time I would be covering the whole floor by myself. If you get extra breaks to work on your lung cancer and emphysema, then I should get extra breaks to get some fresh air.

They shouldn't say anything, because they are not at there desk working either. Also I wouldn't be worried until the boss approached you about it, then I would say it is no different than the smokers taking a break.
Good Luck
smoke free

Equal rights.
If someone gets to take a short break for their legal vice, then so should I. I think we should call it "Vice break.", because that's exactly what it is. This is a topic that ticks me off constantly. I may not smoke, but maybe I want to go have a quickie w/my gf, or play a video game, or have a beer (That's legal too.), or whatever. The point is, yes, it's an unfair policy. Maybe it should be taken to legislation. Stating something like: "Employers who grant breaks for those with inherrant vices are hereby obligated to grant them to all employees under..." blah blah blah of whatever code number for the law it is.

I am a smoker, and I only smoke on my 1 break.I am at work for a reason, not to smoke.I think other smokers should do the same thing. Its not fair for non-smokers to not have the same amount just because its short breaks thro. they day.So I agree with you.

I agree, I am also a nonsmoker but we deserve a break too. I say we get to take beer breaks. We drink so we should be able to indulge in our hobby during work as well.

I believe labor laws require all employees to take breaks so you shouldn't feel guilty if you took a break yourself.

I say yes, if you need to get away from your desk for a few minutes and regroup. You would probably be more productive.
