I have found that this is usually caused by a short in the wiring to the inside pushbutton that is due to a staple that is too tight on the wiring. When there is a small vibration (like from a truck going by your house) the staple rubs on the bare wire and makes a connection. I diagnose this by disconnecting the two wires that lead from the pushbutton. Disconnect the wires at the back of the powerhead, not at the pushbutton. Then give it a couple of days. If it doesn't happen again then you have found the problem. If it does happen again then you have ruled that out.

It's not impossible for someone nearby to have the same frequency and code on their garage door. However, it's very unlikely.

The military radio system will not cause garage doors to go up by themselves. It will only interfere with the signal and make your remotes not work.

Check to make sure the door is going down all the way and staying down. Start watching it close then count to 5 to make sure the down limit switch is not out of adjusment. If that does not help try this. If you installed the opener yourself then simply change the code on your remote and opener. Most openers are pre-set to a factory code and there could be thousands set the same as yours. Try driving around your neighborhood and pressing your remote and see if any of your neighbors doors go up. If that still does not help, disconnect your wall button and see if it keeps happening. I bet though that when you get home you hit your remote or wall button and go in the house. Later you come back to the garage and see the door up and first thing we think is someone raised it. When you close your door with the opener, if the door hits an obstruction before it hits the down limit switch it will reverse. Your opener may think the ground is an obstruction. Good Luck.

if its shut and just opens by itself.. it has nothing to do with the sensors. I did read that the air force was starting to use a Freq close to door openers. think this was near CO. (dont remember for sure) but the outcome was to get a new box that does the Freq. biggest kicker was the Gov. doesnt have to pay for any of this since its national security. I would go with the post on a similar code being used nearby

This happened to me. I had an external keypad that I believe was the culprit. If you have one, simply disconnect the two wires that attach the keypad to the opener or if it is an RF keypad remove the batteries. Also you may want to consider changing the channel you operate on if you have the option. Possibly a neighbor has a new opener that is operating on your frequency.

sounds like someone close has a similar opener
and the codes are the same
try resetting the codes there is a button on opener push it then within 5 to 10 seconds hit remote button and repeat on all remotes and buttons

check the limit switchs on your motor you shouild have switch in there by the lights/ up.down/ they are adjustable and change sometimes depending on the weather.so you can make your adjustment lower on the down(when the door goes down)
