Gay pride parades compensate for all the pride that gay people couldn't express in the hostile past. Heterosexuals were never told to repress. Heterosexuals were never called dirty or perverted simply for being straight. Heterosexuals were never considered subhuman by Nazi Germany. Homosexuals were. All of that certainly must have stunted their ability to take pride in being who they are.
Gays have the right to be proud to be exactly who they are. They a lot of pride to express, pride they couldn't before. In the current social climate, they can finally declare openly that they require no excuses, no cures, no shame, no nothing.
But hey, if straight people want to have a parade celebrating their sexuality (without denigrating anyone elses), I'm fine with that.

I think a straight pride parade would be great. It would be interesting to see how such a thing would be organized. Set the date, kiddo. I'll show up.
Generally speaking, I believe those who gripe about "every day is straight pride day," well... They are probably a bunch of bitter homos who really need to get over themselves.
I thought the whole point of the gay movement was to unite, and celebrate diversity. First, it was the Gay community. Then the Gay/Lesbian community. Then the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual community. Now it's the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender community. Depending on to whom you are speaking, it's the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Transvestite community.
Gays and Lesbians... Well, that's pretty set. Attraction to ones own gender. But what about the rest? Who qualifies to be counted among those in the "GAY PRIDE" celebration?
Bisexuals, while they are attracted to both sexes, may PREFER the gender opposite to their own.
Trangender people, as I understand, have a feeling of being "trapped" in the wrong body. A man may feel as if he SHOULD be a woman, and a woman feels as though she SHOULD be a man. Sexually speaking, gay or straight doesn't come into play here.
The same can be said of Transvestites, which only means that a person likes to wear the clothing of the opposite sex.
So, if all these groups can celebrate their diversity in the streets, despite the fact that they may not actually be gay, why not Heterosexual people?

Well straight people are the majority group. They don't need a straight pride parade because every day that they get up and live in a world designed to cater to their needs IS a straight pride parade.
Same thing when it comes to race in my opinion. Since in this country white people still hold a disproportionate part of the power, they don't need a white pride parade because every day they wake up they are already living in a privileged world designed for their needs.
Gay pride parades have a lot of different purposes, but at least it's one day where people can come out and for a short while be the majority that society has to make way for. (Literally make way. Roads are closed for parades. Alternate routes needed to get anywhere. :) )

Every day in society is a straight pride parade. Turn on the TV. There are straight people kissing. Go to a club, there are straight couples dancing. Go to a wedding, it's a straight couple getting married. Go into a guy's room, there's pictures of women on the walls, symbolizing how proud he is to be a straight man. Society is immersed in straight pride. Gays ask for one day out of the year. I think it's fair.

Sure, just as soon as you start getting verbally and physically harassed for being straight, you can have a parade to show the "bigots" that you are proud of who you are too!

I don't see much to be proud of being straight.
"Yay over population! Wahoo! I helped!"
Or "Yay! We can hate people better than others!"
It's just not something I keep on my list of things to be proud of.
My list of pride includes:
Open-Mindedness
Tolerance
Ability to love
Compassion
Veganism
Paganism/Wiccanism
