I know that's way back, but I LOVE history. If you want to, you can also tell me your favorite movie with them in it too.

I any actor from the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, or 80's. I can think of only a few people who have lived through them all, and they are NOT in the movies.

Jimmy Stewart---a totally timeless actor and appealing even now. "It's a Wonderful Life", "The Philadelphia Story", "Harvey", "Rear Window", "Vertigo"---I could go on and on. Tall, handsome, funny, likeable, and oozed character. The closest we have to him today is Tom Hanks, but he lacks Stewart's sex appeal.

LOL. Make me feel old since I lived throught the 70's and 80's. That's a huge range. Alot of stars from the 30's and 40's weren't around in the 70's and 80's. I guess, if I can only pick one, I'd go with Dustin Hoffman. He's a very versatile actor and each character he plays has it's own unique personality. My personal favorites are The Rain Man and Kramer vs. Kramer.

Sir John Gielgud. He WAS Hamlet before this new guy by the name of Olivier came around. He also made a comeback in Arthur at the age of 77.
I almost forgot to add that he was also in one of my favorite movies. It is called The Loved One and stars Johnathan Winters. It is a hilarious black comedy.

James Dean because he represented everything cool and honest about acting in the 50s and his iconic image has stood the test of time. Rebels Without a Cause is my favorite!!!

I assumed 'actor' meant someone male, but seeing as loads of other people have mentioned women, Audrey Hepburn has to get a mention. I know it seems obvious, but Breakfast At Tiffany's is simply amazing - I LOVE it. She has such elegance and class - amazing! Actor - Humphrey Bogart!
