Nope

A collegue of mine is Jewish, and she celebrates christmas. her desk is the most decorated, and she co ordinates the office's christmas party.

She just loves the festivities. It's not a religious thing for her. Just lots of fun.

This day and age, saying Merry Christmas isn't what it used to be.. Everyone is taking the Christ out of CHRISTmas. It's now all about who got what.. we are all now over spending and not taking a second to think about what we are really celebrating. So I think in Saying Merry Christmas, you are wrong to assume.

It's safe to assume, but there are always exceptions. I'm not Christian and I say Merry Christmas all the time.

You are free to assume whatever you care to assume. I wish my Jewish friends a Happy Hanukkah, but I'm sure not Jewish.
My Oriental neighbors wish people a Merry Christmas. I believe they're Buddhist.
I wish people a Merry Christmas, and mail many many Christmas cards. I'm Atheist.

Not necessarily. I say both Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah. I am Christian. However, I never say Happy Holidays.

Nope. It's best to just say "Merry Christmas to you too" and leave it at that. Best not to assume anything.

You can, if someone says Happy Hanukkah to me I just say Merry Christmas in return. No need to get in a tizzy about it.

We all are celebrating the same thing so thats what really matters to me.

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't assume anything - they could just be friendly. I've worked with plenty of Hindus, Muslims, Jewish, etc. over the last several years and about the only people who won't utter those words are those that belong to the cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
