I really dislike Scott tissue, it's not soft. Do the Charmins and the Angel Softs of the world affect the septics?

Also, I have alot of antibacterial soaps from our old place. I would like to use the hand soaps because they are expensive and smell nice, or should I not use ANY antibacterial products?

I've had septic sys for years.
TP is fine, just don't use huge amts unless you want to have it constantly pumped

Anti bacterial soap is fine. Every now and the throw a pack of septi bac down the toilet ( you can buy it almost anywhere) It helps keep the bacteria levels healthy, less pumping needed.

Caution against powdered laundry deterg. though. Can clog the system and re solidifies and coates pipes ( causing back ups) switch to liquid if you haven't already

I used to have a septic tank at my house until I was finally able to get hooked up to city sewerage. Scott tissue was the only one I could ever find that was safe for septic tanks. As far as antibacterial soaps go, I always used them and never had any problems.

I have lived with a spectic tank for many years. At first I had to keep getting it pumped because I was doing it all wrong. But now I haven't had it pumped in over 20 years and it runs great.

First, it is best to have a dry well for your laundry water, if not all you grey water. I just use it for laundry water.

Never put bleach in it, or flush you old antibiotics.

I do not use any special toilet paper.

Flushing raw liver down you toilet one a month (or less, if you forget) keeps it active. I don't like liver, so I use the stuff they sell at the store , sorry I can't remember the name and I am not at home.

I even flush the food out of the fridge that we don't recognize, I figure that is full of live something.

Hope this helps.

Look for toilet paper that says it is septic system safe. I have found it at BJ's the hand soap should not mater as you do not use much of it to effect anything

JUST COMPENSATE FOR ANY DEATH OF YOUR BACTERIAL COLONY BY MAKING UP A PACKET OF DRY YEAST ABOUT EVERY 2 WKS. AND FLUSH DOWN TOILET...TOILET PAPER UNSCENTED WILL NOT AFFECT SEPTICS...IT'S WOOD CELLULOSE ...BACTERIA LOVE IT...
