I would like to find out if there's a way I can make sure the pc Im renting out stays where it should be. I dont want to invade my clients privacy, I would just like to protect myself against loss should the client decide to move without telling me.....

You should have some legal document drawn up between you and your client such that in the event of it going missing - or him moving with it - you can make a claim on him.... maybe even take a deposit from him ... to the value of the PC ???
It would depend on your relationship with the client.... but it doesn't sound like you trust him/her.

I'm sure that if your client moves without telling you and takes the comp with them, then you wont be getting it back.

Why would you want to rent your PC anyways?
I take it that you are lending it to a mate for a fee, no one would be crazy enough to lend it to a total stranger.

You need to check your settings within the tabs, i use yahoo and msn tabbing and as i have looked in the option menu i haven't found a saving point for each tab, however i could have missed it so you should try looking again.

Your Internet searches are automatically saved so as long as the person doesn't delete the content of what they have searched for or viewed and hasn't deleted the temp Internet files then you would be able to know exactly which sites they have looked at.
But deleting this info is an easy thing to do but you could put a password on it from your admins account and that would block them from deleting any information.

Only thing I can think of is that you could install a PC anti-theft device at the Loader/renter's home. It basically locks down the PC with a cable so that it can not be stolen or removed.

I read in a Kim Komando newsletter that there is a device device for computers that can allow them to be tracked. This works simular to LoJack for cars. Sorry, I do not remember the name, but you may be able to find the info at kimkomando.com.

just install a cellphone with a gps unit inside of the computer. Then if they do "run" call the cellphone and get the gps position. Then call the authorities to inform them of stolen merchandise.

first of all, if its your personal computer, then dont loan it to anyone, as they could access your personal details via your hard drive, like bank statements etc so its not worth the hassle!!!!

and i think its illegal to put a tracking device on a computer if you arent a person of authority like an agent or something. but i could be wrong so please check!!!

dont give out your personal detalls asa identity fraud is so easy these days!!!!
