I have a male friend that I have been very close with since childhood. He is like a brother to me. He has a girlfriend that I can't stand. She is catty, two-faced, back-stabbing, obnoxious, sleazy and very controlling and I can't stand her. He has had other girlfriends before and I got along fine with them. They have only been together for about four months. He recently invited me to spend the holidays with them but I don't want to because of her. I am not the only one of his friends that feels this way. What do I do??

Make up an excuse. Don't tell him how you feel about her, that would be taken as an insult, no matter how you phrase it.

TALK TO HIM! don't come and ask us-- surprisingly enough we don't have all the answers!
get all his friends together who feel the same as you, and sit him down for coffee. if he doesn't listen to you, then let him alone. he's a big boy he can take care of himself.

ps-- and also, some food for thought: how do you think his girlfriend would feel if somehow she figured out this question was about her? i think that she would be so hurt she ould go home and cry and cry and cry. i understand you don't like her. but no one in perfect. Why don't you have a little mercy? she's probably hurting hugely inside because of something (example: her dad is an alcoholic, her parents are getting divorced, her brother lives in another state and she Hasn't' spoken to him in two years beacause he got angry a her and cut off all communications, etc etc) you have to understand that all humans are loved by God no mater how they act. can you at least try to look at it in that light?
thanx

You just tell your friend the problem. It is up to him to take it the wrong way or the good way. Most likely he'll be glad to know what you really think of his girlfriend.

I myself going quite through the same thing with my best friend and her boyfriend. Her boyfriend is totally insecure and jealous. Because I live in Los Angeles and she in San Francisco, I don't see her often, but do get to talk to her. He thinks we talk about sex, and how much I want to make love to her. She already told him that if he doesn't control his insecurity and jealousy it's over. When she introduced him to me over the phone, he pretended to be stupid, "low-key" as he categorized himself, and all, for me to feel sorry for him, or don't know why. Then I found out he's not really that way, he just thought that I wanted to take over his relationship with my best friend, and that by making himself low-key/humble, I would not do anything. Stupid, huh?
