I know..gross...but the rug is light beige and the stain that I thought I cleaned has reappeared. I just used bissel carpet cleaner and thought I had gotten it out but this morning it was still there. What do I use to get the spot out without ruining the carpet???

Your stain reappeared because the urine seeped into the padding below and now it has been "walked" up to the surface. In order to neutralize the stain, you will have to flood the area again with a solution of white vinegar and water in a 2:1 ratio. Place a thick terry towel over the area afterward and literally hop on it which will draw the liquid to the surface taking with it the urine. Padding is like a sponge that soaks up liquids the bacteria in the urine will continue to walk up to the surface and attract airborne dust and dirt from shoes. Vinegar will neutralize that bacteria. You can then use your Bissell carpet cleaner or a wet dry vac to suck up the excess liquid after you hop it to the surface. Also, if you notice a strong urine smell after the area dries, sprinkle 20 Mule Team Borax on the surface and let it sit for a few hours then vacuum it up. Borax eliminates urine odor.

You can be sure the urine has soaked through to the under pad, this is why it will re appear. Roll back the carpet where the stain is and cut out the damaged pad and put in a new piece. Clean the back side of the carpet where it is stained before you relay it. Than clean and deodorize your carpet. Stain will be gone.
