buy a product that is not as bulky like the dumb eyeliners in a stick get one that is in a plastic tube that twists to make it come out.

I use a Lancome eyeliner pencil because it works really well, but what you do is pull your eyelid to the side as far as it can go with it closed. Then, take the pencil and put it on very lightly and don't press hard but put it really close to the eyelash so that you're actually half drawing on the eyelashes. The cool thing about Lancome is if you get a little too thick of a line, you can just smear it downwords towards the eyelash. Then, lift up your top eyelashes and use the pencil as close to your eyelashes again and that works pretty well. I find that liquid eyeliner is to hard to use.

Try Urban Decay eyeshadow and use an eyeliner brush so that when you wet the eyeshawdow and put it on with the brush, it's easy to just slide it across the top eyelid. You can use an eyeliner brush to make the line thin or thick. It's easy to do, and I know using eyeshadow sounds weird, but it's soo much better to control than liquid or a pencil.

Liquid eyeliner is the best for a thin line however it will take you a bit to get used to it, as it can make a huge mess. Try Loreal ( I use it and like it) it has a brush type tip and doesn't tend to fray as much as others I have tried. You need to hold you lid as flat as you can with one hand while touching the tip as near your eyelash line as you can then briskly but not clumsily! go across the length of your eyelash line. I know this is hard, but try to hold you eye shut without squinching or blinking for a minute before you open it to avoid smudging.. repeat with other eye.

Hope this helps!

try using a liquid eyeliner - it won't smear once it dries. A brush style applicator is okay but look for one that is like a pen with a definite hard end. This will help with controlling the line and u can start thin and then add more to shape it to what you like.
and practice ! !! practice !
you can always use a damp Q-tip to 'erase' and try again.
even b4 you put it on try faking it with a similar object and get the feel of that one-motion swoop across the top lid.

It takes a lot of practise, but until you get really good at it, use liquid eyeliner, go from inside of eye to outside. Go slow at first, and don't forget the one beauty product that every woman should have. Q-Tips. If you make a mess, dampen the Q-Tip and then almost erase the mistake while the eyeliner is still wet. It will look like you are a pro at it.

Pull the eyelid tight towards your ear and draw in one line across the lid, or put dots on the eyelid and connect them for a thin, straight line. This trick goes great with liquid or regular eye liner.

I always use eye pencils- the kind that you twist to "sharpen." I guess it depends which type you end up using, but this is the best way to do it that i've found. Take the outside corner of your eye- the part away from you nose, and pull it closer to your ear, so that its tight. (i'm sure this is not good for your eye, especially in the long run with wrinkles- lol) Once you've done that place the pencil by your finger and draw a line from the outside in. I hope this helps!

i hate liquid liner. it is to messy. try sharpening your pencil for a sharper point or you could try getting a pencil liner that goes on smoother that the one you have. i suggest prestige soft blend khol eyeliner. it is around $3 and you can get it at a drugstore. it comes in a few shades so if you want a change from black or brown, there are colors like purple or blue. this eye liner does not pull on the eyelid so it goes on smoother. to put it on, just keep the liner as close to your lash line as possible using short feathery strokes.
hope i helped!

Use a liquid liner, with a thin brush applicator, and start from the inside corner nearest your nose, and work your way out. Use very little pressure, and a light hand. You should get a relatively thin line. Good luck! :)
