I am trying out for this Idol thing at my school and I am singing Hit Me With Your Best Shot and for those of you who know this song, there are eight, eight counts that are just instrumental. I thought about doing a dance with it, but it will look retarded. Need some help. What should I do for those eight, eight counts. I cant stand there and look like an idot.

You could play the "i'm a rockstar" air guitar...that's always a popular move.
I don't know. I sing great, but my stage presence leaves a whole lot to be desired. LOL

You could dance a little, but not too much because then it might backfire. Or, if they let an audience watch, you could ask one of your friends to sit and watch you, and then you could invite them up on stage to dance with you. That way, you'd connect with the audience and you might feel more comfortable if your friend is on stage.

rock out. dance around a little and maybe find something (candyish) to throw at the audience. If you don't have anything goin on on stage, involve the audience, they love it.

Keep the flow of whatever movement you've got going.
fade (step backwards) for 4 then head back to land back on spot on the 8th count.

maybe you could do like a "Put your hands together" type thing to the audience. Get them into it.
