He will only do that if he has something to gain by it. A smart move from a political perspective.
Not to mention there probably afraid Nancy Palosi will strap on a suicide vest and get within 20' of him.

he's never made public appearances they are all well screened events and photoshoots. there were protests from the very beggining of his reign.
