That means they would actually have to think instead of just remaking movies or making them from stories already written.

Because Hollywood is loathe to take chances on anything anymore, unless they are SURE it's got HIT written on it.

Look at "Passion of the Christ".
Not my cup of tea, but Gibson got church groups the world over to buy out complete showings and then hand out tix to their parishes.
In L.A., Chicago, Miami, Dallas and NY (Among Others), "Passion" played to half houses, but because ALL of the seats sold, it was a hit. Doesn't matter if there is an actual Butt in the seat, just the ticket sold.

Now there are a few "religious" theme films in the works.

If a small studio took a shot telling the Ninos Heroes' story, or a similar one in that vein and got lucky- THEN Hollywood wil take a chance.

Unfortunately, Most Americans are clueless as to who the ninos heroes were, and that works against it as well.

Look at "Flags of our Fathers".
it's been acclaimed as one of the best movies of the past decade, Clint is collecting awards left and right, and NOBODY SAW IT. And, most Americans (should) know about WW2 / Iwo Jima.

If Clint hadn't shot "Sands of Iwo Jima" back to back with "Flags", they would have never financed the 2nd film after "Flags" did so poorly.

That's the biz, unfortunately.

Which war?
The Mexican war against the Indians, the peasantry or the clergy? Or the one in which US troops marched the length of Mexico to Mexico City?

All movies start with a story. Write the book. The story needs to be told. If you know the story, help the millions of people who don't know it by getting it out there.
