nah, this is what I reccomend: you can wear the halter top, but not alone, maybe with a nice corodoroy blazer or small jacket with a choker neclace. don't wear boots unless thier under your pants if you really must. Otherwise I say a yes to open-toed shoes or pumps. while your at it, go get your hair done. Your hair can ruin your whole outfit if its not done right. (ex: a ponytail with a prom dress, am I right?)

Sounds fine but I can't believe you are wearing a halter in Chicago! Must be some heck of a halter (and I am not making fun- I've done things like that, especially when the clothing articles in THE BOMB). Have a shawl handy.
Do your thing in those boots girl!!!

I am a firm believer in NOT mixing seasons, and by "mixing seasons", I mean wearing fashion's from more than one season (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter). I think outfits always look most cohesive when you wear pieces that are from the same warmth category. So if you wear boots, you should wear something equally warm on top, ie. no sleeveless top! Or wear the top, but then no boots. Those just don't flow in my opinion. Then again, you're the one wearing it, if it looks cute in your opinion, then it's your deal. But as a general rule, I wouldn't mix seasons, it's just too weird. Good luck! :)

I'm no fashion expert, but no way would I wear open toed shoes in Chicago on New Years. But women like to suffer for fashion, so do what you want ... in fact, do what you want anyway, because you should be able to decide your own style ... but it sounded like you wanted to wear boots, and that seems sensible, comfortable and safe to me!
Happy New Year.

Take the sleeveless top off before you try to put the boots on ... you'll never get your feet into the boots with the top in first! Hey now!

I think a cute of white or black tank top with matching vest or bolero because this is a very unique to match the jeans and the boots and wear a beret.

Well, In Texas we wear boots with everything. If anyone says anything about what you wear use your boots to stomp a mudhole in their A**. Wear what you want to wear, who knows you may start a new fashion trend!
