i've been waiting for my grades to come in the mail for a week. I got fed up and remembered i could check my grades online, so i did. When I looked, one class said I had failed, which i didn't think was possible judging on the fact that i only got Bs and Cs in that class, unless i totally bombed the final, which i know i did well on. In my other class it said i had no credits. i have no idea how that's possible, because i my teacher said she couldn't find some of my work, so i rewrote three papers for her, not to mention all the classwork i had already done. So i'm just really nervous because my mom is REALLY strict, and i feel really bad, because that's a lot of money that had to be spent, and the results aren't even good. it just really sucks because i did so well in all my other classes. if anyone has any ideas on what i should do, please let me know. thanks.

Come forward with a confession about why you failed, and then let them know you are upset too and that you have a plan so it won't happen again.

Remember that it make take some time for the professors grading to catch up to the online display - maybe you didnt get credits because the prof hasnt posted the grades to the computer yet.

Then, you need to go to the professor and politely ask for a review. The professor could have made a clerical error and just entered your grade wrong on the report form to the registrar. They're only human and mistakes can happen. That kind of mistake can be easily corrected. But I don't know too many profs who would change your grade after the course is over by giving your more work or letting you retake a test or anything like that. When it's over it's over. You had a fair chance to do the work, just like the other students, so if you came up short you have to (as the other answer said( "man up" and admit that you blew it. Whatever you do don't start whining and complaining about how unfair everything is. Everyone hates a whiner.

And, don't let this happen again!

Coming from an asian family myself (and taking college classes during high school for credit) i know how you feel. I'm sure that the fact that it's English 1A won't make the situation any better for you. What I can tell you (since I come from that situation) is that there are different ways to present the facts, but no matter how you present it your parents are going to be really angry & upset. I would tell them sooner rather than later (because if you wait they'll think you're hiding things & lying and yell more) and just be straightup. Tell them you failed the class because you didn't read the directions carefully, that you're sorry & you regret not being more careful and you won't do it again. Keep apologizing, and don't make excuses. Take responsibility for what you did, that way they can only yell about you failing the course and not about any excuses you make while they're angry. Afterwards, avoid them for a while. All i can say is that I know how heartbreaking and upsetting it is to be in that place, but with time, they'll forget & you'll move on.

I work for a university, these faculty memebers are completely irresponsible. Do you still have copies of your work on your computer? First, I would talk with the professor and ask questions about homework points, test points, extra credit (if any), etc. to get your grade improved. If that doesn't work, I would file an academic appeal, take screen shots and print outs with you and the work. Be prepared to turn evidence into the school, write a complete synopsis of what happened including direct quotes, dates, and times. Talk with an Academic Counselor and/or Student Life for instructions and help. Begin these steps before talking to your parents.

As for your parents. Honesty is the best policy, you did the work, you did your best and the faculty is incompetent. Which says something about the school they're paying thousands for. Let them know the steps you've taken and get them involved, it will only help you. You're not asking for extra points you didn't earn, you are entitled to a fair grade like everyone else. Good luck!

what i can say is that you should sit down with her and explain that you worked your hardest and tell them the situation that you are in and how you felt you were trying and doing all the work and it was unfair the grade that you got and hopefully they may understand as long as you are a good student and put effort forth they should understand but, another idea may be to go meet with those 2 teachers or maybe e-mail them and talk about the grade you received and why you received the grade you did sometimes it does help that way you would be able to explain it better to your mom and let her know that you have tried to fix things by actually talking to the teacher a little initiative goes a long way!! but hopefully everything works out for you.

Tell your mom about your grades, then try to have them changed. Start this process by phone and e-mail today. Your professors will likely change your grades if you really put in the work. Don't compound it by lying to your mom because she will probably find out - she can just call the school if you keep evading her. Make sure you explain that you are going to get your grade changed, that people do it all the time and you think it was honestly a mistake.

Well, I would have a plan on how I am going to do better during the next semester before I'd tell the parents. I would ensure them that I tried my best with this course and I just couldn't get a better grade, but if I needed to get a tutor next time I will. If you come to your parents prepared with how you are going to improve your grades.... That's how I used to handle it when I was in college, and believe me when I say, I had a few grades that were less than steller! :) Good luck to you!

If you did as well as you said, the first thing I would do would be to contact the professors.

Then, if the grades still stick, then man up and take responsibility for your actions. If they are paying for your education, they deserve to know what they are paying for.

You should really talk to your teachers and see if there's anything you can do. I tried that... but they wouldn't let me do anything (those bastards). But hey, atleast I tried.

Tell your parents everything that you told us. And tell them you will do better next time.
