I think it has as much to do with poverty as it does with education. You have one black man with you on this his name is Bill Cosby.

I think the main point that I will be making is that the racial make up and their choices in life are independent on each other. In other words, races does not dictate their actions, personalities, nor station in life.
With that said, the reason why I believe that the highest population of people in jail are black is because many of them still live in neighborhoods that are lower in social economical status. Environment does greatly influence what types of personalities and morals a person has. Thus people growing up in those neighborhoods tend to have certain tendencies. They are not in jail solely because they are black. They are in jail because they are the product of their environment.
Also race does not dictate the education level of the people. There are many dumb uneducated white people as well who live in trailer parks and commit crimes as well. The fact is, the harder for someone to get out of slums, the more likely (but not always) they will be the product of their environment.

Have you ever heard the story about the baby elephants? They were going crazy in the jungle and hurting the females and other "teen" elephants. They had no regard for any of the other elephants or the social order of elephants. The DNR brought in BIG, OLDER elephants, to set the example and keep the little elephants in their place, they immediately started acting properly because the BIG elephants would make sure by way of elephant discipline that their youngsters acted properly.
The same is true when there is not a male roll model in the home- black or white, they get into trouble. Unfortunately, young black girls are reproducing faster than the non blacks, and the babies do not have fathers in the home to be the role model.

You are partly correct. Gov. IS another factor. When welfare was enacted it was the beginning of the end of the black family. 2/3rds of all black babies are born to a single mother. Many black women have multiple children by more than 1 father. This is an epidemic that crosses all colors of skin but at present is predominant in the black community. Children grow up in a house where the Gov. provides most of what they have, there is not father figure present or a bread winner to look up to or be a role model. The children grow up poor, wanting part of the American dream, and see no other way to get other than to sell drugs, steal, or use drugs to escape their poverty.

the highest population in jail is african american because while the white man is out here bombing up schools, molesting their own kids, drowning their own kids, and killing people and eating their dead bodies their too busy getting psychiatic help. Seeing as that the white man is put on a pedistal and is suppose to be so smart they would know better but yet they get the psychiatric help and the minorites get all the fuccin jail time. They dont think twice about locking a black man up. People refuse to open then eyes and see the facts they want to blame education. Believe it or not most black people raise their their kids up to be somebody and accomplish what they couldnt accomplish in life. Black people have more to prove when it comes to getting a education so dont feed me that bull about blacks being dumb and not having the education cause its a load of crap. Pick up a book and learn some fuccin facts. this world was designed for the white man to succeed and be top look the hell around.

First, a majority of jail and prison inmates are white. There is, however, a higher percentage of black males who are inmates than of any other ethnic/racial/gender group.
Why is this? Most of your responses have focused on poverty and education, and these are valid reasons. The reasons behind the reasons make for interesting discussion.
Poverty can be cured, or at least ameliorated, through education. Any professional educator will tell you that the greatest predictor of success in school is parental involvement. Socio-economic factors are less important. Daniel Patrick Moynihan warned decades ago that black America was headed for massive failure because the illegitimacy rate was at 30% and rising (it passed 50% quite a while ago). A single parent, no matter how devoted, has little time to devote to participation in school activities during the day, and even little time to help with school activities after work. This is something which is evident to even the mildly observational, and is not intended as a judgment on illegitimacy. The wages of sin may be death, but the wages of illegitimacy are found in poor education for black Americans.
Norming for socio-economic factors, the second most reliable predictor of success in education is quality and involvement of the school Principal. The ability of the school Principal to guide the education of his or her students is inversely proportional to the strength of the teachers' unions. Teachers' unions conciously and intentionally ceased being a professional association similar to the American Medical Association or the American Bar Association in 1965, and became labor unions. Until that year, objective measurements of public education results showed year-over-year improvements every year. Since then, these same objective measurements have reflected a continuing decline. All teachers' unions hold that the Principal is the enemy, the school board is the enemy, and even parents are the enemy because they might interfere in a teacher's right to his or her job. Thus, where teachers' unions are strongest (large cities with a concentration of poor blacks) Principals' ability to influence events in their own schools is weakest.
Poor education dooms poor blacks to poor lives, which leads to higher rates of incarceration.
The most interesting discussion focuses on the reasons behind the reasons behind the reasons. These involve political power. I am of mixed race and a life-long Democrat. I am ashamed of how my Party has treated the black poor. Policies that reinforce reliance on government to solve all problems, without acknowledging the importance of some measure of self-reliance, perpetuate the existence of a large population of poor black Americans. Without 90%-plus of this population's votes, in many states my Party could never win a state-wide race. Without the enormous financial contributions by teachers' unions and the off-the-books contribtion of a million teachers' union volunteers, my Party could rarely win any political races.
The only groups that benefit from the perpetuation of a large black poor population are the National Democratic Party and the national teachers' unions.
Incarceration comes from poverty comes from poor education comes from lack of parental involvement and lack of the ability of Principals to guide education comes from the political power needs of the Democratic Party.

Fives times of 5 times their prison population. all public data in public domain . people go to prison for the crimes they commit. prison cost money. these people can be productive on the outside world making a living.

I'm sure that this is going to get me a violation , BUT. The law provides a lawyer for everyone who needs one.The reason that these people are in jail is that they committed crimes. Often not once or twice but habitually. Combine that with the glorification of criminality in the youth culture and the fact that crime "seems to pay" and you get a group of persons who , rather than work for what they need, steal or commit other crimes to get it. Welfare has definitely added to the problem causing a " culture of self entitlement" in a lot of these people ( criminals, not necessarily black people in general) that thinks that " the government owes them"

The reason that African Americans have the highest population in jail is that they are arrest more. Why? Because of racial profiling, lack of money is a big thing---cannot hire a private lawyer, experts, jury experts etc...
It is racist to say they commit more of the crimes. African Americans make up 18% of the US population, yet over 50% of the jail population is African American.

I'm thinking that there are several factors why this is probably true. First, there are a lot of black men who are involved in illegal activities such as drug trafficking, gang violence, robberies, etc. People in poverty have an increased probability of doing something illegal compared with people who live in middle to upper class neighborhoods. Since the average black household income is $20,000 compared to white average household incomes of $125,000, it is easy to see why many of these black men and women turn to 'hustling' to make ends meet. Not that it's right, of course. But poverty is a factor.
In a nutshell, there are way more blacks who live at or below poverty level in the U.S. due to poor education of parents which trickles down to the youth. Others reasons for poverty in the black community comes from generational poverty from SHALL I SAY IT? Residual effects of slavery and continuing racism. Am I whining now...lol. Sometimes people don't want to accept the truth. Anyhow, we are products of our environments. You've heard that a lot, right. Well, its true. When people see no hope of getting out of their miserable poverty-stricken existence, hopelessness turns into anger and resentment and these people no longer have any respect for authority or law.
This is probably why these statistics are true. I'm just glad none of my brothers and male family members are in jail. There are deviations to every situation.

Actually more whites are executed in the USA than blacks and other groups put together. More than 53% of those executed in this century in the USA were white, 24% were black, less than 10% were Hispanic or Asian. Asians, Indians (from India), Jews, and Middle Eastern decent for the most part have the smallest percentage incarcerated which throws the racism theory away.
