I'm sorry, but your question is misguided.

First of all, if an employee needs to be "babysat" by the employer, that should justify being fired. That applies to any employee who doesn't get their job done due to any non-job activities. IF an employee isn't getting their work done, or is robbing the company of productivity, then that fact must be known to the employer so they can take corrective actions.

Second, an employer should protect themselves from litigation and liability. That means that they can, and do, monitor p0rn, flirting, etc on your computer. They MUST make sure that no one is engaging in insider trading. They need to block as any device that can create privacy issues (chat software, FTP software, etc).

Third, an employer should be able to guard company secrets. While assigned to a GM division, one of their execs walked out of GM's headquarters with stacks of docs that gave VW a real advantage. Had that exec been a computer geek, he'd have known how to sent virtually everything via FTP, and no one would've ever known.

Fourth, an employer needs to make sure that everyone is safe. That means TV cameras, swip cards, etc etc.

Bottom line -- in this era of corporate espionage, huge liability settlements, HIPAA, SOX, employee shootings, etc there is no way that the employer can do anything else.

It is OK for the employer monitor employees to make sure they are getting what they pay for. It also helps them head off harassment, discrimination and other legal issues that often come from improper emails.

there is not any good of privateness interior the workplace. they are paying you to do a pastime. It starts and ends there. The company owns the pcs, lockers, desks, phones, each little thing, so as that they have got a good to seek or video reveal all the above.

So what your saying is that you don't think that someone who owns the business and owns the office equipment and computer that you are using should be able to monitor what you do, even though he pays you to do what he tells you to do???? Is that what your saying???? Think about that and then ask it again!!!!
