I even have a website, www.superscarves.zoomshare.com, but nobody ever visits the website.
We have been a buisness for a month now and no one has bought one product.

You need to work on your web page. The reason no one visits is that your page doesn't come up on any of the search engines I checked. Additionally, it doesn't direct me to a page that will let me place an order. Also, I couldn't see any of your product on the page.

Too many web marketers work on the if-you-build-it-they-will-come model. They won't. Once you build a Web site you must give them a reason to come. A Web site is a passive form of marketing: providing a signboard which points visitors to your products and services. To be most effective, a Web site should be used in conjunction with seven active forms of marketing which we will examine briefly in this article. Just how do small business people on a limited budget entice visitors to their Web site?

First, advertise your Web site to Web search engines that index the Web, such as Yahoo, Lycos, WebCrawler, and InfoSeek. The actual registration process can be deceptively simple. A service called SubmitIt! (http://www.submit-it.com) provides a way to submit information to approximately 15 of the most important indexes. If you do this late at night when Internet traffic is at its lowest, you can transmit your business's on-line address and description to all of these within three-quarters of an hour. Done right, a person who is seeking a consulting engineer in Northern California with experience in large electrical systems will quickly locate your name. Widget customers will be able to pick you out from the increasing crowd of on-line vendors.

The danger is that the untutored can construct a carelessly-written 25-word or 200-character marketing description that blows their opportunity to be seen by vast blocks of potential customers. These 25 words must be written to include the chief keywords by which customers would locate you. If you want to change your description in a month or two, it takes much longer than an hour to contact each of the services separately, and then convince or nag them into making changes.

You can pay modest amounts to several services to perform this important task for you. For example, my company, Wilson Internet Services, offers as part of our website packages to carefully register your Web site with the most important indexes. Your website is not very helpful. You need to show the product right away. I clicked around and didn't find one picture, yes I know what a scarf looks like but not your scarf. If you truly want to drive traffic to your site first fix it - there are lots of software options to help-so you don't need to hire anyone. Include pictures of the product, "testimonials" little notes that have positive input about your scarf like: "the warmest scarf I've ever owned" J.Q. Purchaser. Look at other sites that sell similar products to design your own site. Since you say you have a store too you will also want to see what is making you less appealing - did you advertise and have a grand opening sale? Have you contacted local charities for a fund raiser - like 10% of sales made on a given day will be given to that charity (you can tie in your website too to boost traffic). Get a Marketing book at the Library and try different tactics until something works for you. Remember to plan a budget for this or you can be holding a "going Out of Business Sale" before you get off the ground. Good Luck!

Even if you get traffic to you website. Nobody is gonna buy your product. The reason you website is very poorly designed. I dont mean to hurt your feelings but i seen lots of my space sites much better designed then your site. Another reason its bad is that you used a free service. These serivices are not for professional run sites. You should take a web design class. If your scarfs are great try selling them to a directly to a store and let them sell them for you. You can try selling them on ebay. It will be much easier for you. Since i don't think you are selling high volume. Any thing you do try reading a book about it first. Theres lots of books on how to make money on ebay. Best of Luck. Good business people learn from there mistakes. Bad ones dont.

A couple of questions..

1. Are you only relying on online sales?
2. Have you done anything to drive traffic to your site?
3. Do you know what SEO means? -"Search Engine Optimization" (this may help drive traffic)
4. Have you tried EBAY?
5. Have you tried registering a shorter website name? It is a long one for people to remember
6. Have you called local radio stations to have them demo the product (this is done all the time)

I would also suggest reading Inc magazine..it is an excellent magazine geared towards small business owners

try this website

It seems like you might be a young person, so I'm not sure what your business experience is.

You need to market your product, perhaps even give a few away. Also, you're website needs a little work. I couldn't even find a picture of the scarf....and no one wants to e-mail anyone to find out how to order....we want to order it, pay for it and have it delivered. After you work on your website, you need to find a way to drive people to your site. What I would do if I were you is find a little boutique in your area and offer them to the boutique at wholesale pricing....

Starting a business is tough....
