Try photocopies of original notes. Just dont get caught carrying them around or you will end up trying to cast a spell on your local bobby.

It's illegal to own the kind of special paper that banknotes are printed on, hence why photocopies can never pass as real money. I'd suggest using a foreign note thats not worth the paper it's written on. Iraqi Dinars are ideal and do the rounds all the time on eBay with and without Saddam's portrait on - you can buy a whole wad of freshly-minted 50 Dinar notes for just a few quid, which would cost practically nothing to burn.

I've purchased fake American bills in Chinatown. They don't look realistic up close, but they work from a distance. I'm sure they're available in different "styles".

why not use a foreign money that comes in notes but has very little value?
i would use the ethiopian currency, but it is illegal to take out of the country.
