Favorite 'cause it's good or favorite 'cause it's scary? Favorite good horror movie (though, honestly, it's more a thriller) is Shallow Grave with Ewan McGregor when he was very young, about a group of friends who find their roomate dead. The rest of the movie is spent following the characters transformation, the story is always riveting and you don't really know what's gonna happen next. Also, Scream, not because it's paticularly well made or anything, but because it manages to sit solidly on the line of scary and funny. For movies that really gave me the creeps, The Talented Mr. Ripley and The Ring.

The original "Night of the Living Dead" in black and white terrified me, but all the remakes are pretty good too. I've NEVER been able to sit completely through the original movie of The Exorcist either---VERY scary. I don't particularly like slasher movies, so I haven't seen "Saw" but my daughter thought that was very scary.

The Haunting (1962/3?). basically because we see not some thing. Theres no blood, no guts, no killings... its all performed with ecosystem; the seem on peoples faces and sounds. It receives to me each and every time. yet ignore the remake with Liam Neeson.
