Hey Shonna, I think your LCD just needs to be replaced. I had a similiar problem once. I could hear the laptop starting up and loading and I could even type in my password, even though there was a blank screen. The hardware might be fine if you can hear it loading, but your LCD which is the top part of your laptop just needs to be replaced. I hope this helps.

If the screen won't show how do you know it loaded properly? Have you checked to ensure your monitor is properly hooked up and turned on? Sometimes these problems have the simplest solutions. If you have it plugged in and turned on and it is showing a black screen your video card or video card driver may be bad now and needs replacing. I would start with the driver, by going to the manufacturers website support section and search for a updated or current driver, download and install it in Safe Mode.

Now, please be aware that updating or changing out driver is the number one cause of the BSD-Blue Screen of Death, which signals a computer crash. This does not mean that your computer is toast however, so don't panic. Just go back into Safe Mode and Roll Back the driver in Device Manager, or use System Restore to rollback your system to the old driver and computer configuration.

Whenever you do something to your system, add a hardware device or a new software program you always need to set a Restore Point first as a safety net. Then you need to use your computer and all of the programs to ensure all is well before you do anything else new to the system. This way if something goes wrong you can identify what it is easily. If you have added a lot of items recently you can't know which one is the culprit right off and have to do a lot of investigative work to find the culprit.

If you are inexperianced I strongly suggest taking your computer to a computer repair shop. There is not any shame in needing to do this, and it can save a lot of hassle and heartache. Inexperianced users can cause a lot of damage rummaging around in a system and hardware configuration. Just make sure you take it to a good solid repair shop and not one of those big box stores like Best Buy or Frys Electronics or CompUSA. These larger companies often employ iffy technicians and I would never trust my system in this situation. A good shop is The Geek Squad, or something simular.

Good luck and have a very happy holliday season!

hi, I have seen this beforehand. Its an situation at the same time as the computing gadget is going to sleep it isn't wisely waking. try conserving down the flexibility button to completely turn the computer off. go away it for kind of 10mins with the battery out and take a verify out back. this can flush the ram that's storing the sleep status.
