I saw a report on the news once that showed the lifestyles that some panhandlers were living...some of them drive BMW's and take home 6-figures a year. They look like bums on the street begging for money, but at the end of the day, they get in their BMW and drive home, and do it all again the next day.

A lot sometimes. Drugs are expensive you know.
I saw a news story that was on a couple in Ottawa Canada. They were married and had a nice house. But were unemployed and hence got welfare and free everything from the government.
They would sit in lawnchairs panhandling all day every day, as long as the weather was OK. Keep in mind in Canada everything under $5 is coins.
Think about this: a busy corner, suppose each of you get sometime to give you a buck every 5 minutes. That's $12 an hour each. Tax free. Do it for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. That's $70,000 a year, plus the $26,400 they got from welfare plus $4,800 from baby bonus (it's a Canadian thing American's wouldn't understand) is just over $100,000. TAX FREE. In Canada that's like making about $180,000 pre-tax.
Their house was valued over $300,000.
What a country.

You know what they say...location is key! If you're standing in a subway or in front of a mall and hit hundreds of people the money adds up. It can easily be a full-time job!

I heard on the local news, here in Dallas, that they can make on an average, in a single day as much as $50.
Not bad.
