Perhaps not the same situation, but I had a physical issue with my router (D-Ling DI624) where it would for no apparent reason just reboot itself. I sent it back for repairs and got a new one. This one started doing the same thing after about four months.
I've replaced the router and haven't had the problem since.
So, turn on loggin on the router and then check the logs when this happens. Maybe you'll find something there?
