I guess I could ask a counter-question, how many wives pay more attention to their children and soap operas or romance novels than they do their husbands.
This is not a gender issue, it's a character issue.
There are selfish folk who equally represent both genders.

The question is WHY is the tv set and internet more appealing then the wife and kids. If people spent more time appreaciating and enjoying each other... this shouldn't be a problem. Most people use the internet and tv as an excape from problems or as an alternative to a real life. Don't give him a reason to "want" to excape and give him a reason to want to live in the real world. Should fix the problem.

It's easy for both partners to fall in to a slump. My spouse could do that full-time if I let him, but I also have a tendancy to escape to my room in front of my computer. You have to make a conscience effort to spend time together. Buy tickets to a show, ballgame, or movie, set up a specific time to go for a drive with the kids etc. Set up a TO DO list... (keep it relatively short) and let him work on it through out the day at his pace. Good luck

I used to be really bad about that. But there are alot of guys out there who would not want to admit it that they spend more time watching tv and on-line than with their families.
Usually I try and wait till the kids are in bed to get on-line, plus my wife works nights and I usually am off the computer when she gets home from work to spend time with her. I usually am working during the day.

my fiance` spends quite a bit of time playing war games on the internet and i`ll tell ya to me that is much better than hanging in the bars or clubs when he does his thing i do mine we are both happy. We have an understanding if there is something else that needs to be done we do it first, if it is a bigger part in his life than you it is a problem and you either need to fix the problem or go on down the road good luck

That I could not tell you, I love to spend my time with my daughter (on the weeks that I have her). Though her mother never turns her TV off.

Men are nothing more than overgrown children. They always want a woman around to "take care" of them as if they are children. They can not multitask. They know women are smarter and better at almost everything than them. Wouldn't you rather veg out and not have to think rather than have to feel totally lost talking to somebody more intelligent than you?

it's not only the men,
It sometimes takes work to make a relationship and that includes with your own children. Perhaps it's laziness. TIVO is easier than actual communication. You don't have to give anything up or of yourself with a television.

My first husband was like that. What a horrible marriage I had. We are no longer married. The TV got more attention than I did.
