My period was the same as always for the first 4 days. But then instead of it ending on the 4th day I have been bleeding 7 days longer. The blood is now lighter darker in color and almost looks brown to me. As if the blood is old. Total I have been bleeding 10 days going on 11. Is this okay or should I go to the ER. I don't have insurance. Nothing changed in my diet, I'm 22 and have no kids although my husband and I are trying. I also don't use any form of BC. please help

I would go to the local clinic, it will be much cheaper than the ER. You could be pregnant, some do bleed when pregnant. But it sounds more like you could also be having a miscarriage. Definately go to a Dr as soon as possible!

1) Not Pregnant.
2) The brown IS a build up of old blood... it doesn't always all pass during your period.
3) BC pills and other such are bad for you. It causes blood clots and strokes. He needs to be wearing a condom if you don't want to get pregnant.
4) If the problem persists, go to an OBGYN... not the emergency room. The ER won't know what to do, and they will charge out the ying-yang.
5) Look into getting some insurance... if it means finding a better job, then do it. Because one day you will get pregnant, and you need to be able to cover your childs medical costs... there will be a lot of them.

I don't think this is normal. If your periods have been very regular, this seems even more abnormal. You can probably get treatment from an Urgent Care facility. They are much less expensive than an ER. I think it is worth going in to be checked out. If you did miscarry, you will need further medical care. Excessive bleeding can also be signs of more serious problems. You can always pay on a credit card or make payment arrangements. You're health is more important. But please, before you get pregnant, you need to find a low cost insurance to cover maternity care. Prenatal care is SO important. At least see if your local health dept. provides free care for pregnant women.

Well this can be several different things. You could have fibroids, and it busted in you...therefore all the bleeding. You could be experiencing a miscarriage. You could have some other kind of heath problem. To be on the safe side, go to the doctor. Does your husbands job offer insurance? If so you really need to get on there. If not, you need to look into a insurance plan. If you can't afford it, look into getting medicaid.

Your trying to have a baby with no insurance? I hope your looking into getting some, it will be helpful! Anyway maybe you were pregnant and didn't realize it and are now having a miscarriage? Are you in pain and cramping? I would defiantly go see a doctor or go to an urgent care near you. It's going to be expensive, but better to be safe than sorry.

It's not a sign of pregnancy.

I did something similar a few months back, and all it was was my body regulaing itself after coming off of BC.

Best thing to do is spend the money to see an OB/GYN. Call planned parenthood, they soemtimes can get you in at a reasonable price.

i think you should get checked, you could have an infection. if you are trying to get pregnant, than i would think about insurance before even trying. if you go to the ER, you will be stuck with a bill. stop trying until you get insurance.

i would at least call your doctor, espcially if you are feeling faint or anything like that. don't go to the ER unless your doctor tells you to. if you don't have a doctor, i know there are some nursing lines available to call. i hope you feel better soon. good luck!
