Warm weather, low taxes, reasonable land prices, sweet tea, and lakes/rivers that don't catch on fire from pollution?
Gee, you tell me.

There is no more wrong with the South than any other part of the country. Actually it may be better. I was born in Rome Mississippi, and now live in Mobile Alabama. I have lived as far North as Baltimore. I went to school with young men from all over the USA. The men from the South seemed to be educated at least as good as the best of the others. Morality, kindness, faith, and patriotism seem to be the more likely traits of a Southerner. Not that other do not have these traits, but it seems to come standard in the South. There are exceptions.
I have met many friendly people from the North West, Mid West, and the South. I have met few from the North and North East.

Nothing is wrong with the south... I am from and live in New Orleans its in the south but nothing like the other southern states. It is like a new world there EVERYTHING is different the food the people the accent the atmosphere in some ways its like a mini France. If you ever go there you will think your not event in the United States. I have been to all the southern states and the small towns are very southern but the big cities like Atlanta is just another big city nothing southern about it.

The only thing wrong with the South is that people keep assuming some thing is wrong with the South. I'm from Virginia and that state tends to fall in both the North and South in people's opinions.. I say it's the South. I went to PN and a group of people shoved me and other's into a rail because they were rushing around and not paying attention... maybe I could have forgave that if I hadn't just had a c-section a few months prior. I was in New Jersey and said "Thank you" to a waiter when my meal came out and he asked where I was from because no one says that. Some one went into where my sister was working and she said have a nice day and some guy yelled at her and said in the North you don't say things like that, even though he was the one out of his territory. I guess the South is too polite and appreciative.. huh?

Nothing!!! I am from Florida. The south has a good mix of people and we enjoy having a different style of living than those from up north, or we would live up north. In the south we have manners and are much more friendly. Any one can have a bad experience, but you were very general with your question so my answer is very general as well. If you had a bad experience, I would give it another shot. There is a lot of culture and nice beaches (at least in FL). Plus it is hardly ever cold.

I have lived in the North (Chicago) and the South (Charleston and Atlanta) and I can tell you that there are good and bad places in both. There are certain areas in the rural south that are racist and backward in the stereotypical way, but there are also a lot of racist and backward areas in the North. The most racism I ever experienced was in Boston and New Jersey. There is also just as much white trash in the rust belt as there is in the South. On the other hand, the historic area of Charleston is probably the prettiest urban setting in America, and Atlanta has some of the best suburbs in America.
Yes, our summers are bad, but our winters are good, and fall and spring in the South is perfect.

Pennsylvania, I dont see anything wrong with the south. I actually think its has a peaceful aura to it. If I was given the opportunity I would have raised my children there. I think the south instills alot of values that us northerners have forgotten. You know, the yes and no ma'ams/sirs. The south know how to take care of their own as far as growing your food, making clothes etc. The food is more fresh than up here unless we grow it ourselves. Up north we take alot for granted we dont "sit back and enjoy the fresh air"
I cant remember a time that I have sat on the porch with a freshly squeezed glass of lemonade, rocking in my chair, elms and aspens just making music in the air......
This is just my opinion, I know that there probably alot of things that go on in the South that I dont approve of but I know I would be able to look past it just for the relaxed lifestyle.
You didnt tell us what state you are from.

I'm a northener (New England area) and I love the South. I'm much more of a southerner at heart than anything else, I think. But I couldn't ever live there. I love my four seasons with snow. That's probably the only thing wrong w/ the South... not a lot of snow or much of a winter. Other than that, it's perfect.

Texas!! God's country. No place like it. I was born here and would never leave. Oil wells, cattle, pick up trucks, the southern drawl, big hair, Friday night football, chili, chicken fried steak, bluebonnets in the spring, unpolluted lakes and streams, absolutely fantastic hony tonks, dance halls, mild winters, low taxes, big ranches, University of Texas, Texas A & M, big money, beautiful women and handsome men, the best medical center in the US, cowboy hats with real, working cowboys under them, , rodeos, the best cutting horses in the world, back yard barbecue..... DAHLIN', there's not a single thing wrong with the South, and TEXAS is heaven on earth.

There is nothing much wronger about the south than any other regions. I'm from Charleston, South Carolina and this is a nice southern town.
Life is more slower, but we take that slower time to enjoy ourselves. Atlanta, GA is starting to develop the club scene, Texas is starting to get huge, so yeah nothing much is wrong about us than any other region.

i'm from NY, i lived in NC and now i live in SC, (my husband is in the Air Force) the good things about the south are low taxes, nicer people and less pollutions, in my experience there definately bad things, the black people here are much more racist then they are up north, you can't find many foods and the restaurants are not as good, no bakeries, no deli's and i don't like the heat, i married a man from a very small country town in NC and he is definately a lot different then many northern men, he's unbelievably honest, down to earth, doesn't care if he gets dirty and can fix almost anything (many guys today can't screw in a light bulb)
the south is ok, but i definately want to move north again
