Every night when I'm lying in bed, I always get freaked out wondering if there is a robber in the house. Every little sound I hear I start breathing heavy and hold my pillow really tight. I just have a huge phobia of some insane person coming in and trying to kill me and/or my mom. I'm only thirteen and I shouldn't be freaking out over this kind of stuff every night! I think it might lead back to a nightmare I had back when I was like nine or something. I was riding in a train and we went over a tall bridge. Just then, the train went off its tracks and I woke up. I couldn't move for a few seconds and I just layed there, belly-up, my limbs sprawled across the bed, sweating. For a few months after that I had a huge fear of death and got really depressed. If you are going to call me mental or something than please don't say anything at all. Just please, I'm begging you, somebody help me!!! I can't take this every night!!!

This is a psychological problem. Consult your mom and tell her about what you've been dreaming about. I strongly suggest you try finding a psychologist to talk about this. Perhaps the best place to start would be with your parents or perhaps a school counselor.

When I was your age I was scared too, but scared of other things. The thing that can make you feel better is being prepared. Finish all your sentences that start with "what if"---get a plan. Do you have an alarm system in your home? Locks on the doors and windows? Do you know self-defense? Do you who to call when you need help? Do you have a phone in your room so you can call for help?
"If you are prepared you need not fear" (I wish knew who said that)

You need to go around the house and check all the doors and windows.. Which is right and a sensible thing to do. You could even invest on those door knob alarms( they only cost a few dollars but would give you peace of mind) and that way you won't be worried so much. Everyone feels this way sometimes its not unusual just double check everything.

You probably aren't "mental" as in "completely psychotic" but it sounds like you are dealing with a great deal of stress and anxiety and/or depression. Do you really feel that it is pointless to see a therapist, who might be able to direct you to anti-anxiety medication or relaxation techniques, just because you have some irrational prejudice about the idea of an issue being a mental health one? Please get over this prejudice and get help. Something like one in ten americans suffer from depression alone. It is real, it is treatable.

I don't think this is all that unusual. The press is always reporting things like this. Try not to listen to TV news or read the paper for a while. Maybe if you had a little barking dog sleeping at the foot of your bed it would help. If there's a real noise, even a small one my little Yorkie will hear it and growl. So, if he doesn't growl, then I know it's nothing.

JUST STOP IT ! Stop or I will send somebody over to enter.
Just kidding , tell your self there is no one , get a passive alarm 25.00 picks up body heat ,put it near entry and face your fear ,go and check. What wont kill you can only make you stronger.
I had similar when I was young,lived in a bad neiborhood ,no lock on main door and a cheap one upstairs on my apartment. Good Luck youll be fine.

Its alright settle down.Now when I was your age I had the same phobia.I just kept telling myself nothing was going to happen.Now sometimes you need to trust the world around you and say,There's nothing there I will wake up and nothing bad will have happened. Okay??

ASK YOUR MOM TO TALK TO SOMEONE.EVEN YOUR FAMILY DOCTOR.WHEN I WAS 13 I READ THE BOOK HOBBITS. AFTER THAT I DREAMED EVERYNITE.THEY WERE SITTING ON THE END OF MY BED. I DIDN'T SLEEP FOR WEEKS. THE SCHOOL COUNCELOR REALLY HELPED ME. BY TAKING ABOUT IT AND MY FEARS. IT WENT AWAY. GOOD LUCK
