There is a new law, where you may freeze the credit reports at no charge. By freezing the credit report, no credit will be issued to anyone using the ssn. Since your daughter is 14, and need not have a credit report, you should have it frozen. You can lift the freeze when she becomes of age, and needs to start building a credit history.

There's 3 credit bureau that you can call right away to tell them to put a freeze on your daughter's credit.

Equifax:
https://www.econsumer.equifax.com/consumer/sitepage.ehtml?forward=customer_service

Experian:

TransUnion:

First thing you should do is get a credit report and see if the guy used your daughter's info already. If he has, call all 3 credit agency and explain to them what happened, and to put a freeze on your daughter's credit. Also cal all the businesses on the credit report and explain what happened. Finally, you might want to request a change for your daughter's social security #.

There is supposed to be a new dept under homeland security to streamline identity theft issues and reporting. You should research that asap. You can also call any of the credit reporting bureas and put a hawk alert on her credit file...

See if you can get the guys name and where he worked.....I would gladly fly to another state to confront the person using my information.

Well try cancling any thing in her name and then look it up on the net look under "stolen identity" or things like that keep in mind the longer this guy has you daughter iditity the more damage he can do to her record and maybe even your, if he keeps this up your daughter will have a hard time getting a car or house or any thing.

Get online to the free credit reports and there's numbers on there to call. For a small fee you can block further credit accounts unless you want them to go thru. I'd call Crime Stoppers also. Good luck.
