It's sad. But hiking on mt. hood is obviously dangerous, which everyone knows. They took the risk. I agree with you totally!

I don't understand why people are allowed to climb the mountain in Dec. It is too dangerous. They also didn't bring enough equipment, I heard. That's stupid in itself. It's December, the chance of storms is great. How can they have predicted a 2 day climb? Like the saying goes, the best laid plans of mice and men...
I feel terrible for the families, but I don't think the other two men survived.

I think it's always easy to be cold, critical, and distant from situations that do not affect you. People often think that those types of situations could never happen in their families until one day, BOOM...there you are thrown into this tragic circumstance over which you have no control.
A little empathy goes a long way.

The day that your child gets lost and we mount a search & rescue effort to find your 2-year old amatuer toddler before he freezes to death, we'll remember to send you the bill.....

Happy Holidays.

Wow, that's kind of mean. How would you feel if that was your family? I don't think it was too much at all.

I think the covering of it was way overdone. Your sympathy is way underdone.

Rescue effort, no.
